Nate is steeped in music lore and tradition, and will share a little history about old-time music and the bluegrass players he grew up listening to. Prodigy Nate Leath won the fiddle contest at Galax Fiddlers Convention in Galax, Virginia when he was just 11 years old. He grew up going to bluegrass festivals and fiddle conventions with his grandmother all over North Carolina. Nate lives in Lexington, VA where he teaches at Washington and Lee University, with a degree from Berklee College of Music in performance. Most of Nate’s time is spent as a touring musician, music educator and record producer. His many solo recordings are a glimpse at the breadth of his musical interests and skill. He has toured with David Grisman, Old School Freight Train and Love Canon, and recently released a new recording, Nate Leath and Friends “Volume 2” with guests David Grier, Sammy Shelor, Nancy Sluys, Rushad Eggleston and Danny Knicely.
